Displaying 1 To 3 Of 3 Comments New Zealand Government Feed Standard (Consultation) As someone that works in emergency management, I’d support the advisory/vulnerability angle, and also add that there are similar ones used in CDEM/hazards mgt such as alert, warning, and declaration (under the CDEM Act 2002). Some research would be required to develop a suitable taxonomy to categorise all these ‘alerting’ announcements without significantly expanding the namespace used. It might also be useful to have ‘nzreport’ for any reports released by government agencies, and ‘nzdata’ for any data sources published by government agencies. For example, as an administrator of gis.org.nz, I would be very interested in being able to aggregate nzdata announcements for the geospatial community - whether they come from Statistics, Health or any other Government agency. I guess it all comes down to the source of the coordinates, if they are +/-5m or less, then they are fine for navigation, however if they are geocoded, they are only as good as the source dataset, and geocoding doesn’t always work well with vanity addresses (e.g. popular address differs from geocoding dataset address location). Perhaps geo needs a source tag or similar that identifies the accuracy based upon the source for the coords. But adr only means that it pretty much rules out downloading for GPS navigation/bookmarking. Comment Posted By Gavin Treadgold On July 29, 2008 @ 3:13 pm
